My 2.5 year old's camera would have to be mounted on the wall across the room from his bed (8 feet away), in order to get a decent wide angle shot of whatever he's doing (hopefully sleeping!), while the newborn's camera would be mounted on the wall close to the crib for a close-up view. Unfortunately, most video baby monitors I tried (notably, the Infant Optics DXR-5) just seemed to lack the strength of video in night vision to adequately view my toddler son in his fully dark room during naps and at night, which is the only time I use it for him. I was, therefore, VERY surprised and happy to see how well this Motorola monitor performed, especially at this price point.The 2 cameras came already paired up with the parent unit. A bonus, I can speak to her through the video screen monitor and she can respond.Skipping the streaming camera and choosing one with two cameras was the right choice! I was originally going to purchase a monitor that streamed the video, but decided not only would that drain my iPhone/iPad battery, that also meant I would need the device with my at all times, even at home. Easy set-up right out of the box. The cameras easily switch to night vision - no, it's not as clear as 1080p or anything similar, but the night vision is just right for my needs. Battery in the video monitor is short lived, so I leave it plugged in the majority of the time and utilize the option to jump back and forth between the two cameras which eliminates the need to push a button to switch to the second camera.
