5.0 out of 5 stars MBP36 vs. MBP36S, December 18, 2014
This review is from: Motorola MBP36S Remote Wireless Video Baby Monitor with 3.5-Inch Color LCD Screen, Remote Camera Pan, Tilt, and Zoom (Baby Product)
With the arrival of our first baby, I wanted to make sure the video monitor we purchased fit our needs. I had the opportunity to purchase both Motorola MBP36 and MBP36S to compare. The difference between the two video baby monitors was not obvious at first, so I contacted Motorola. Motorola advised the MBP36S, is the newer version of the MBP36 that includes upgraded video and audio. This review is only my personal experience and opinion.

Audio: The audio on the MBP36S is MUCH more clear. So much that the lowest volume setting is still too high! This may be a negative while you are sleeping at night, however, during the day if you are trying to complete 100 things on your To Do list while baby sleeps for an hour, the higher volume will make sure you don't check to video monitor every five minutes to make sure you didn't miss something.

Video: Both units use infrared technology for night vision but the MBP36S video quality appears to be a slightly clearer then the... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Motorola MBP36S vs Samsung SEW-3041w: Fewer features, choppy video, but works well, October 5, 2014
This review is from: Motorola MBP36S Remote Wireless Video Baby Monitor with 3.5-Inch Color LCD Screen, Remote Camera Pan, Tilt, and Zoom (Baby Product)
Tested the Samsung BrilliantView SEW-3041w against the Motorola MBP36S. Both are the relatively new, higher-end models of both companies. Either of them would make a fine baby monitor unit for most people, but even in a small NYC apartment, we seem to have one wall too many for the signals to pass through; both units are "out of range" in our bedroom, so we've had to resort to keeping the parent monitor unit out in the living room.

TL;DR: Samsung has better features than Motorola, but its functionality issues are a big drawback. Motorola didn't go out of range as much, but this may not matter in your home.

Both monitors have good night vision, audio, and volume. I have not needed the two-way talk, lullaby, or night light functions so haven't commented on those.

Here are each monitor's strengths.

Samsung SEW-3041w pros:
1. Bigger display and better monitor unit - 4.3" screen vs Motorola's 3.5", all buttons laid out in a common-sense way,... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Power Issues, April 18, 2015
This review is from: Motorola MBP36S Remote Wireless Video Baby Monitor with 3.5-Inch Color LCD Screen, Remote Camera Pan, Tilt, and Zoom (Baby Product)
Did what it was supposed to do...except the battery wouldn't keep a charge longer than an hour or less...which is VERY disappointing when it comes to baby monitoring. We kept it plugged in to make it go all night. Then the monitor suddenly wouldn't TAKE a charge (after just 4 months). The problem was the port on the monitor. The connections inside were SO THIN AND FRAGILE, that even unplug/plugging it a handful of times seems to have caused them to snap completely.

Needless to say, we're quite upset. We received this as a gift four months ago...so packaging and receipts are gone. And since my curiosity led me to open up the monitor, I don't think returning it is an option anymore.
