I was still very hesitant while purchasing this. Now, I'm glad I didn't spend a fortune. This Vtech monitor comes with two cameras, which is a great feature, because one can be set up in the nursery and the other one in the living room in the play area. The quality of picture and sound is very decent. The range is very good. No problems with wi-fi either. The only reason I don't rate it 5 stars, is because the battery doesn't last long. I previously had a hand-me-down audio-only monitor that had AC adapter connection issues that caused a lot of white noise and crackling, but it did serve its purpose well for over a year. The Vtech VM312-2 monitor is crystal clear in sound, unless you get out of range, so it's like breath of fresh air to listen to compared to my old one. The only downsides to this monitor is that even when the audio volume is all the way up on both the parent and baby units, it doesn't come close to the max audio level of my older monitor, which is okay indoors, but once you go outside, it's easily drowned out (unless the baby is screaming, which I would rather hear my child before he gets that desperate). The other downside is that the video resolution is not very great (nothing like the advertisement video or picture make it look, which is a little deceptive, even if they tell you what the resolution is.
