The temperature seems to be accurate +/- 1 degree based on what my house thermostat's reading. I placed this thermometer right next to the thermostat to test for consistency. For the hygrometer, it's about +/- 3 percent compared to my AcuRite unit. Can't confirm which one is more accurate since I don't have a baseline, but wanted to note the difference. This unit is also quite handy since it displays the date and time as well. The weather forecast is not the outdoor forecast. It's pretty much worthless and more for just display. The weather forecast is determined by the indoor readings. Overall, the temperature reading is reliable and the display provides additional handy information. I followed it step by step and was able to set it within a couple of minutes. First, pull the see through strip on the back (sticking out of the battery compartment).
